The nanner is my attempt to create an upswept blade that would still have a usuable tip for utilitarian tasks.  With the blade initially coming from the handle at a downward angle and sweeping back up the tip remains positioned in line with your hand when you hold it.  The shape of the handle sort of fell into place as a clear closed profile resembling a banana.
